A daily-process framework connects invalidating experiences and minority stress to short-term variation in personality pathology.

This collaborative study integrated invalidation and minority stress theories using intensive longitudinal data, allowing the analysis to separate average within-person associations from the extent to which those associations varied across people.

Levels of analysis

An average process can be real without being identical for everyone.

The central analytic distinction is between a population-level association and the person-specific processes around it. Daily data make both levels visible without treating either as the whole story.
